Overview for RFID Events

Hi - thanks for vending at an upcoming event that is using FastBar!

What is FastBar?

FastBar is a simple, easy to use, high-speed payment system built specifically for the needs of live events and venues.

What are the benefits?

FastBar’s Point of Sale system will help facilitate a smooth sales experience both for your staff and attendees at the event.

Key benefits include:

  • 1 second payments - it’s quick and easy to accept a payment with FastBar

  • Quicker lines - when payment happens in less than 1 second, lines move quicker, or don’t form at all

  • Incredibly simple and easy to use - we regularly hear from staff and vendors that FastBar is the easiest point of sale system they’ve ever used. Training your staff will take around 3 minutes

  • Works offline - if the internet goes down, no worries. FastBar keeps working, so you can keep making sales

  • Happier attendees - happier attendees mean happier staff :)

How does it work?

Upon arrival at the event, attendees will receive an RFID wristband linked to their credit card. You won’t need to worry about that.

When attendees arrive at your location and want to make a purchase, you’ll ring them up on the FastBar Point of Sale system and scan their wristband to complete a transaction in around 1 second. FastBar will automatically text the attendee their receipt.

Here’s a quick 2-minute overview video of how to do a transaction at the Point of Sale:

Do I need any special equipment?

No. All of the FastBar Point of Sale equipment you need will be supplied for you.

When you arrive at the event, check in with your Event Vendor Contact who will let you know when and where you can collect your FastBar equipment.

How do I get my products and menus loaded?

Depending on the event, they may either request this information from you ahead of time and load in in on your behalf, or they may invite you to the FastBar Event Control Center for the event so that you can load it yourself. See below for more information on the Event Control Center.

What if my products or pricing has changed between when I submitted them and when the event starts?

Depending on the event, you may need to make a request to your Event Vendor Manager to make this change on your behalf, or, you may be able to change it yourself from the Event Control Center - it depends on the policies of the event.

If you have access to the Event Control Center, try making the change, alternativley, reach out to your Event Vendor Coordinator or event support staff onsite and they’ll be able to help you.

Can I just use my own point of sale system?

No, the event has chosen to use FastBar to ensure a quick, smooth, and consistent experience across the entire event. All transactions must be run through the FastBar system.

Can I just take cash or credit card?

No, this event it completely cashless and all transactions must be run through the FastBar system.

What about tipping?

FastBar has an automatic tipping feature, so there is no need for the attendee to select a tip at the time of the transaction. This helps speed up the process.

The Event Organizer is responsible for setting the tipping policies for the event, and will often set a default of 15% or 18% on food and beverage purchases. Most attendees will leave their tip set to the default, but some will adjust it up or down.

Please contact your Event Vendor Coordinator for more specific information on the tipping policies for your event.

How do I see my sales reports?

FastBar has comprehensive reporting available via the Event Control Center for the event.

You will receive an invitation to the Event Control Center so that you can see your own vendor reports at any time during or after the event.

You can access these reports from your phone or computer, no app download is required.

Please note, even though sales numbers are generally updated within a few seconds of a purchase, sometimes there could be delays if parts of the system are running offline. Also, attendees have the ability to edit their tip until the event closes out, so numbers you see during the event may be subject to change.

When and how will I be paid?

Reach out to your Event Vendor Coordinator about the specifics of when and how you’ll be getting paid.

Where can I learn more?

You can learn more about FastBar on our website, in particular the Benefits and Features sections are great to look at.

Also, here are a couple of other short training videos we’d recommend taking a look at:

What if I have more questions or need help before, during or after the event?

The best initial person to reach out to will be your Event Vendor Coordinator. They’ll be able to help you with most questions, and also be able to escalate to FastBar support staff if necessary.

If you need assistance during the event, they’ll be able to dispatch someone to help you.

We understand using a new Point of Sale system can be stressful, especially in the event environment. FastBar has been specifically built for the live event environment by experienced event operators. We understand the unique challenges of the event environment and regularly hear from event staff and vendors that FastBar is the simplest and easiest Point of Sale they have ever used. We’re confident that using FastBar will provide substantial benefits, ultimately creating a better experience for all concerned.

We’re looking forward to working with you!
